In the seventeenth century, a Jesuit priest went on a mission to the Huron people in the Canadian wilderness to convert them to Christianity. This priest was given the nickname Black Robe by the natives.
The Black Robe had to travel through the wilderness to reach the Huron Indians. Algonquin Indians traveled with him as guides through the hostile territories. After a long journey upriver, the natives began to think that Black Robe was a demon because of dreams their chief had and the magic of writing which the Black Robe showed them.
