The Great Gatsby F Scott Fitzgerald is a great book with a lot of contrasting characters. The character I am going to talk to you about is Tom Buchanan. He was a very wealthy man and he used this to get what he wanted. Tom’s attitude toward other people was not even close to what he expected people to treat him.
Tom’s wealth brought him to the top of the social pyramid. He used this wealth to do and get what he wanted such as women. He won Daisy over with his social status and money. He also bought many things for Myrtle for which he was having affair with. Tom makes people treat him like royalty but yet he treats people like they are all lower class scum and he is better than them.
