Charles Goodyear was born on December 29th 1800 in New Haven, Connecticut and died on July 1st 1860 in New York City. He is well known and famous because he invented the process of vulcanization. The process of Vulcanization makes it possible for the commercial use of rubber. The good year company, which we all know was later, named in honor of Charles Goodyear. If it was not for Charles Goodyear the rubber on our tires everywhere would not last long at all if it was not for the process of vulcanization. Charles Goodyear started his career as a partner in his father's hardware business, which later went bankrupt in 1830.
