The fighting of the great First World War ceased on the eleventh of November at eleven o’clock 1918. The fighting had started four years earlier in 1914 but was brought to an end with Germany finally loosing. Many factors contributed to Germany loosing beginning with the failure of the Schlieffen Plan, which forced Germany to fight in two directions at the one time and finally became exhausted.
