Within the school of Delft, in and around the 17th century, there were many masterminded artists who varied their styles among an array of different techniques. These different techniques, sometimes shared or similar to others’, were used to achieve a variety of different outcomes. In order to utilize many of these techniques, one would have to have an understanding of the knowledge within certain scientific realms. Among these realms of science, artists incorporated their knowledge of space, optics, geometric shapes, and light, along with a particular technique that may vary among the artists, to achieve their end result.
