Femminst Attitudes in Music

Women composers/performers have a variety of attitudes towards their gender, and the role of gender in musical profession. Among these attitudes are feminist attitudes, attitudes similar to typical male ideas of what women should be, and attitudes that maintain that gender should not matter. All of these attitudes have both pros and cons. Bayton argues that feminist attitudes have opened doors for women musicians. Feminist attitudes have propelled women into musical genres that were traditionally considered male such as rock.
