Deems Taylor (1885-1966) is best known as a radio commentator, but his versatile gifts have also been expressed in books and musical compositions, including three operas. Before his death, and as an acknowledgement to his contribution to American native opera and his full-fledged artistic talent, Taylor was elected President of the American Society of Composers, Authors and Publishers.
