Discussing Why V-TOL and DV8 Are Successful
|
After studying the director of V-TOL and of DV8, my initial thoughts are that Mark Murphy (V-TOL director) has based his ideas for dancing on inspirational feelings and emotions whereas Lloyd Newson (DV8 director) based his on the study of them. For example: Lloyd Newson studied psychology at the university of Melbourne, which would entail that his approach to dance is more of a logical one rather than an imaginative one in comparison to Mark Murphy’s. It’s almost like a left-hand side of the brain (creative) versus right-hand side right side of the brain (logical) both successful in their own rights.
