Jonathan Swift had no problem solving this problem, and the way he went about it certainly got people to stand up and take notice. Instead of just stating the problem as it truly was, then begging for help, he opted instead for a more subtle approach. His reasons were sound. Children are expensive to raise, and a burden on poorer families. Easy answer; farm the children, sell them as food. His reasons were economically sound. Children were never out of season, there was plenty of supply to meet demand (Especially around Easter), and not only were they decent food, their hides, properly tanned, would make ripping fashion wear for women and gentlem
