Seita and Setsuko: fireflies shining brightly amongst darkness Throughout the years many films have been made about wars. It is something that has captured the audiences fascination for years. Some films have been made that glorify the idea of war, and sends a patriotic message to its audience. Other films have focused on the horrors and destruction brought about by war. Revealing the devastation war brings about to a country and its people. In the classic film Grave of the Fireflies, writer and director Takahata Isao uses symbolism and metaphors to reveal the devastation brought about by war.
