Mechanisms of the injury
Hip bursitis is due to an overuse of the hip area and/or the changing of technique/new activity, a direct blow to the area or over pronation.
Bursitis maybe caused by the infection or injury, the secondary involvement from arthritis or gout, by a calcium deposit along a tendon or joint, or by a minor, but usually repetitive irritation. The irritation is caused acute or chronic inflammation of the bursa, the sac located close to the joint. The bursitis usually causes a great deal of pain and tenderness in the affected area. A direct blow such as being kicked, knocked into or being struck by an object can also cause the bursa to become inflamed.
