Diabetes is a lifetime disease. Once you get it, it will not go away. When you have diabetes your body cannot properly use the energy from the food you eat. When you eat food it is broken down into a form of sugar, which enters he blood stream. When the body feels he increase of sugar it sends a message to the pancreas. The pancreas produces a chemical called insulin. Insulin is a hormone produced by beta cells in the pancreas. Insulin regulates the level and use of blood sugar and affects RNA and protein synthesis, as well as the metabolism and storage of fats. Insulin allows the sugar to go into the cells. By going into the cells this gives your body the sugar stays in your blood stream, which makes your blood sugar very high.
