Gerald R. Ford was born on July 14, 1913, in Omaha, Nebraska. His birth name was Leslie King Jr. but after his parents divorced, when he was two,his mother remarried, and Ford took the name of his stepfather, Gerald R. Ford. At the time Leslie's father was a paint salesman. Gerald Ford grw up in Grand Rapids, Michigan.
After his graduation in 1931, "Jerry" Ford enteed the University of Michiagan, where he studied economics and political science. He played the center on two national champion football teams Most Valuable Player in 1934. Jerry recieved a BA Degree in 1935.
