The novel,Frankenstein, is a gothic story, that takes its place in the middle to late eighteenth century. Through out the novel, Mary Shelly provides us with many examples of romantic concepts. The sublime settings, peculiar subjects , and Romantic concerns such as inequitableness, despondency, and loneliness are all examples of romanticism that the author demonstrates. The romantic concept “Man is born innately innocent, good, and virtuous. It is the institutions of mankind that create evil” is present in the novel many times, when the monster is born, Justine and William are killed, and when Frankenstein creates the monster.
The sublime setting of the novel is imperative to the romantic concept, both the main characters look for comfort
