Women's Issues and Women's Representation In Government
If we look at the last century in Canadian politics, we would notice that there has been very little representation by women either in the provincial of federal governments. It can be said that our society has been run by a patriarchal type system of government in which one’s gender (male) is the predetermined factor within the compounds of the national or regional governments. Men simply have been the dominant authority within the government and they have devised laws that would keep women oppressed and not allow women to participate in politics either through suffrage or to run for office for decades.
