The “war” on terrorism or the situation in Iraq and the Cuban Missile Crisis are two completely different ordeals as far as their physical attributes and how they directly affect the United States. The Cuban Missile Crisis was an immediate threat to the safety of our nation. Russian ships were sailing towards American waters, and they had planted missiles with nuclear weapon potential on Cuba, aimed toward the U.S. Although the build up to this day was a couple of weeks long, it reached the terminating point, and Khrushchev backed down, ordering his ships to retreat in exchange for the U.S. promise that Cuba would be safe from an invasion by the U.S. The situation in Iraq has yet to escalate to an immediate threat of war, or nuclear war
