Overtime laws have changed regarding the employment of children due to the conditions of the job that the children were being put in, in the past.
In the olden days children were allowed to work as long of hours as the employer wanted them too. In most cases, the children were being put in horrible working conditions as well as short or even sometimes, no breaks. The work in the past was keeping the children from learning what they need to know at school because they were almost always too tired to worry about it. It also kept them from playing with friends and doing other activities most young children should be included in.
