As it stands today, after a long struggle with imperialism and colonialism, Cuba is a free and independent country. However, the stride for independence was not an easy task. Since the embarkment by Christopher Columbus in 1472 up until the era of independence Cuba has struggled under Spanish, British, and then American control. The political, social, economical, and cultural ideologies were all influenced under these regimes, however, one must keep in mind that these categories are somewhat intertwined. The focus of this paper will be on three of those categories.
