Only four weeks on the job and in his effort to tackle the company’s cost base, Mercedes Car Group CEO Zetsche has decided to layoff 8,500 employees at the German auto maker, equating to 9% of the German workforce. Although Mercedes is only one of the highest price luxury automobile sold in their class, they are highest produced. This has caused the company to cut back in aspects of the business that may cost them more in the long term.
