Two ways in which to view cognition are in relation to psychology and sociology. One way is the viewpoint of psychologists in that cognition is used to refer to the mental processes of an individual, and it also argues that the mind has internal mental states such as beliefs and desires. Cognition is also used to determine how we process our information whether abstract or concrete. In a wider sense, cognition is used on a social level and is based in the knowledge with relation to society being the development of knowledge and concepts within any given group.
