Cheerleading is often misinterpreted by parents today, and society as a whole.
Most people might not even call it a sport but a wimpy activity for the average girl. In “3
Cheers for my cheers for my daughters,” the narrator, is a mother learning about
cheerleading and excepting her daughters choice of sport. Cheerleading might be
interpreted as being a sport degrading to young women. Most cheerleaders are often
known as being airheads, blond, and an easy catch for guys. In this particular story the
mother’s attitude evolves from disliking cheerleading to a appreciating it greatly. It
describes how she learns through her daughter to appreciate cheerleading as a sport and a
step forward for women.
