Intubating or ventilating the morbidly obese patient can be extremely difficult, especially in emergency situations. Rigid short necks with fat subcutaneous pads, a large tongue, and heavy breasts are common characteristics of the morbidly obese which contribute to difficulty of intubation or ventilation. A case report was done on a 54 year old morbidly obese patient who was admitted to the ICU due to respiratory failure. This case proved how the combitube was extremely important and critical for morbidly obese patients.
