Intubating or ventilating the morbidly obese patient can be extremely difficult, especially in emergency situations. Rigid short necks with fat subcutaneous pads, a large tongue, and heavy breasts are common characteristics of the morbidly obese which contribute to difficulty of intubation or ventilation. A case report was done on a 54 year old morbidly obese patient who was admitted to the ICU due to respiratory failure. This case proved how the combitube was extremely important and critical for morbidly obese patients. The action taken on this patient was tracheal intubation by flexible fiberoptic bronchoscope.
