In the movie, Sugar Cane Alley more to life is shown than bodies. The body is like life, and it shows how the people of the “black shack alleys” suffer. The bodies are machines, doing the work of masters. They are slaves and so if they don’t work they are hit by overseers who also are working for the boss man. If only they could escape stop all the violence and get out. Though they could just stop working one day like as a protest that left the fields blank of people. Improving their lives, for the children and for them to have a better life later on. .
