To Compare and Contrast Thomas Hobbes and John Locke
Thomas Hobbes and John Locke both agreed that it was important to have a ruler. To have a leader was an important parts of ones country. Without a leader, the country would not be able to survive. The two philosophers could only agree on this issue. However, they each believed that a different type of ruler needed to exist. Hobbes thought absolute monarchy was the only way to go; only one man, a king, should have the right to govern the people. Only the king had the right to write laws, make important decisions, and make order. Locke believed that the people should run the government. He believed that the people should have a say in everything the government decided, including who rule
