School professionals are becoming increasingly concerned with the growing number of conflicts between students. Conflict requires the attention of the teachers and takes away from valuable instruction time. Conflicts in schools reflect the some of the problems of our society: fighting, bullying, name-calling, and vandalizing. Society looks upon conflict as a win/lose situation. To fix this negative outlook, professionals have begun to implement school-based mediation programs that look at it as a win/win situation (Daunic, 2002). These programs are known as peer mediation.
