Becoming a Certified Lifeguard
The summer of 2004 was an interesting and unforgettable summer. It was this summer that I achieved my goal of becoming a certified lifeguard. I thought this would be a simple ordeal, but it turned out to be very difficult. Before I could just relax and have fun in the sun with my new job I had to complete certain required courses to receive my certification. I was excited about guarding, but not too excited about the certification process. I had to watch numerous videos, perform first-aid on dummies, swim many laps, save a child, and take a written test just to complete the process of certification to be official. If I didn’t complete these courses I wouldn’t have been able to keep my job.
