The character I chose was the narrator’s mother, Amanda Wingfield. After reading the play I discovered that her life was filled with many problems and hardships. Her husband who is only seen in a picture hanging over the mantel left her years ago. He was a telephone man who one day walked out on her and their two kids never to be seen again. This event plays a key role in her personality changing how she acts and displays herself towards others.
Throughout the play she constantly intervenes unwontedly into Tom’s and Laura’s lives. Although she means well she often comes off as very annoying and bossy during many parts of the play. For example when Tom is trying to eat she goes on and on about how he should and shouldn’t push his food. Poo
