Reform movements during 1825 to 1850

Between the years 1825 and 1850, there were many reform movements in the United States that sought to expand democratic ideals. One reform was an education reform that allowed both rich and poor children to get an education . An education making children better citizens. Another reform was for women’s rights. Women played a key role during these years, leading the way for abolitionist movements and movements trying to make alcohol illegal. During these years, the ideas of how a prison should be run also became a movement. During the years 1825 to 1850 new reforms came about, especially in the Whig party, concerning education. In Massachusetts, the first “common school” was created. This was schools where both rich and poor kids would go
