Love is an abstract phenomenon that is impossible to put into black and white, as though one can either love someone or one can hate someone. Emotions, especially love, are not that simple. Love can be separated into different subcategories—from romantic, to friendly, to family, etcetera. But love can also be separated into different layers; love isn’t just one emotion, but a combination of many. One’s love for someone or some idea can end up destroying them. In the case of the Three Tragedies written by Sophocles, love consumed every major character, and destroyed them, either in a literal or metaphorical sense.
