Roman Theatre (200B.C.-400A.D)
Roman theatre was a main part of the Romans everyday life. Plays were performed in huge open air theatres. As these events were free even the poorest Roman Citizens could attend them. Unlike the English theatre everyone came to watch the performances. There were no seats in the theatre though so audiences either stood or sat on the ground. Roman theatre was very much influenced from the Greeks because during this time Greece and Rome were in constant battles so it isn’t surprising that they influenced each other in many ways. Roman theatre was one of the first dramatic places in the world, they were one of the first countries to open up theatres for large vast audiences to experience.
