ABSTRACT
California State statistics currently demonstrate that the sex registration program under Megan・s Law is not operating, as it should. With an ever increasing population of convicted sex offenders it is becoming impossible to maintain adequate control and knowledge of their whereabouts. Changes are needed at the grass roots level in order to maintain and increase public safety. Developing treatment programs for sex offenders and reducing the number of crimes that fall under Megan・s Law are just a few of the many ways the state can address the problem without increased funding and personnel.
