What specifically drew me to this article was that it was a recent article that dealt with a case from over 40 years ago. The Freedom From Religion Foundation Inc published the article in June/July 2004 issue, yet the case and lawsuit was filed in 1959. This article was also interesting to me because it dealt with kids that were in first grade. I think that is amazing how a child in the first grade can cause such an uproar that the case made it all the way to the U.S. Supreme Court. Sandra Chamberlin attended North Miami Elementary School and in that school, along with many other schools across the state of Florida, they practiced public praying and bible reading in class.
