Question 1 Yes, David’s response with regard to evaluation of Beth was justified in the sense that as a chairperson of the meeting David had to ensure that they stick to the purpose of the meeting, which was to evaluate the job. To conclude a job evaluation objectively, it is important that the position and not the person is evaluated. When the person is included in a job evaluation session, the danger exists that individuals will judge the job based on the person‘s performance rather than the requirements of the position. The job evaluation session is not a performance review and therefore personalities have to be excluded from such a session. The job analysis and job descriptions are prerequisites for the job evaluation session.
