In “David Copperfield”, the world-famous novel by Charles Dickens, we are told the story of a man’s life. David looks back at his experiences and friendships, and we come to see how his strong character was shaped. Apart from David himself, his aunt, Betsey Trotwood, is to me a very interesting character. Their relationship is one of love and mutual respect, and they are both described wonderfully by Dickens.
David is the protagonist and narrator of the novel. He is characterised as innocent and trusting, even though he suffers abuse as a child. In spite of his troubled childhood, David remains honest and loving, and is portrayed as idealistic and impulsive.
