Second World War
Second World War took place on Sunday September 3rd 1939. At that time the British prime minister was Neville Chamberlain, who himself made the announcement on the radio that Britain is going into war against Germany.
Below I have copied a time-line from a book called ‘Home in the Blitz’. The time-line shows some of the important dates in the Second World War and the countries that were involved.
Time-line (1939 – 1945)
1939 Germany invades Poland. Britain and France declare war on Germany. 1940 Germany invades Denmark, Norway, Belgium and Holland. Italy enters the war on the side of Germany. The battle of Britain between the German and British air forces begins, and reaches the peak in September. 1941
