Rock’n’Roll
Characterized as an aggressive blues version, the rhythm-and-blues has been formed by the necessity that black singers had for being heard in the places they used to play, considering that the sound of their electrical instruments required a shouting singing (MUGGIATI, 1973). Although, the first form of Rock, called Rock’n’roll, was consolidated by the fusion with the white music, called “Country and Western” (rural music from the USA). Chacon (1985) compares this genre to blues, by the time that it started to represent the suffering.
Before defining what rock is, we need to consider the birth of blues – the result of a fusion between black and European music.
