The Importance of the 10 percent Rule for College Admissions in Texas
When the Affirmative Action was banned by federal courts in 1996, Texas implemented the 10% rule to ensure that the minority race such as African-Americans, Hispanics, and poor whites are given a chance to receive an education so they may better their lives. My daughter will fall into the poor white student when her time comes to attend college. This rule will affect my daughter in 10 years who will inevitably fall into the white, poor category. (or class) I firmly believe that the 10 percent rule works and that it is imperative for the state of Texas, as well as all states.
