Holiday connecting African Americans to their Heritage
Each Holiday season, amongst the many Christmas lights and Holiday decorations, the windows of the homes of many Jewish people proudly shine eight candles representing their traditional eight-day holiday, Chanukah. These candles are held in an ornament known as a Menorah. However, a Menorah is not to be confused with the Kinara, which holds the seven candles, which shine just as proudly in many African-American homes as they celebrate Kwanzaa. With many being familiar with Chanukah, one might ask, “Exactly what is Kwanzaa?”
