Barbara Ehrenreich’s book, Nickel and Dimed on (Not) Getting by in America, was a book written about the poor society in the US by and upper class American. Her book was aimed at an audience that didn’t include the people she wrote about. As a person from the lower class, I found it hard to relate to any of her assumptions about working a low-wage job. Her credentials didn’t have anything to do with her book, but what she lacked in her own expertise, she made up for by employing credible outside sources. Even though she didn’t manage to get her point to relate to her audiences, she did try.
