Tasmanians make a stand on forest issues

Executive Director of the National Association of Forest Industries Kate Carnell said that while the focus would linger briefly on the Greens’ high vote in last weekends Tasmanian election, the reality was that Tasmanian voters had heavily backed existing forest policy.
“The key event of the campaign was the dramatic collapse of the Liberal vote, which allowed both the Government and the Greens – with very different policies on forests - to increase their vote,” said Mrs Carnell.
“But the truth is that 82% of the vote has gone to parties which supported the Regional Forest Agreement in Tasmania.
