She contends and manages to position us to agree, through emotional appeals to our common sense and associations to similar events, that the old adage of ‘standing firm’ is impractical and ineffectual in helping innocent Iraqis and our best move would be to withdraw our troops from the region .
The title strikes the reader by shocking them because society more often than not considers ‘standing firm’ to be a bold and brave gesture, something to be respected. It makes sense
