The women of ancient Egypt were treated very different than that of the women of other ancient cultures. Women of other ancient cultures were normally seen as being lesser beings and did not have most of the rights that men had, including their titles and roles in society. Women of ancient Egypt were seen as being equal to men in almost all regards. In very few cases women were not allowed to hold positions that men were able to hold, such as positions in government, which had to be able to read and write, which leads us to believe that women were illiterate in this time.
