Eric Clapton Eric Clapton was born in Ripley,England in 1945. He became a lyricist after being kicked out of high school at the age of 17. He began to write the blues, a moody emotional type of music, wrote from feelings of the heart and trials and tribulations of his life. His lyrics are very symbolic to his struggles through his life. His desperation problems to his experience in a love triangle between his close friend and his wife which lead to dealing with his heroin addiction, and then his loss of loved ones.
