The courts and laws in this country are set up to ensure that all Americans retain their God-given rights and freedoms as human beings. R. Jackson sums up this idea perfectly by saying that, “The Supreme Court is a guardian of our basic liberties.” Any ideas or actions that may threaten these liberties are quickly and correctly declared unconstitutional by the Court. Freedom and liberty are ideas that live in the hearts of the people, but these ideas are also instituted and protected by laws and principles that this country was founded upon.
