Vietnam War/Full Metal Jacket

The Vietnam War is the longest and arguably one of the most destructive wars in
United States history. The war was officially declared in 1959 and ended in April 1975,
however, America had been involved since the 1950s when they aided the French in
Vietnam. When the France failed to win the war against the Vietnamese led by Ho Chi
Minh, the United States, hoping to stop the spread of communism, mobilized against the
Vietnamese. Vietnam was now divided into two parts, the democratic half; back by the
United States, also know as South Vietnam and the communist half or North Vietnam.
The Vietnam War had enormous impacts militarily, politically, and socially aspect of
both countries.
