This quote is from John Steinbeck's novel “Of Mice and Men.” It addresses the theme of loneliness. This theme is seen in the characters in “Of Mice and Men,” as well as Steinbeck’s short story “Flight.”
Steinbeck uses imagery and figurative language to express this theme in which we come to realize in our own lives.
