Only Time Will Tell
by Dillon Bartkus
Almost everyone in the intellectual world agrees that America is a corrupt society. 1984, by George Orwell, contrasts a somewhat current society with another time far into the future where no one can escape the iron fist of the enforcing government.
Not everyone, however, agrees that our government is altogether similar to the prying government from 1984. Although we suffer some of the same accounts, such as unnecessarily limited privacy, we are not altogether submerged this deep in corruption. There is still time for our society to break away from becoming a mirror of this terrible nightmare.
I think that George Orwell’s closest comparison with our modern age is the emotionless relationships.
