Network In 1976, Patty Chayefsky wrote the film Network, which basically was a bottom of the barrel network trying to save its self from a corporate buy out. A movie about the Tv industry and its troubles with keeping high ratings and making money. This movie shows how desperate networks were to keep ratings high in the 70’s to compete with other networks. This is also true now a day where they will put anything on television. In the movie Network it shows Howard Beale on the air threatening to kill himself. The next day when Beale is fired they find out that the ratings have gone through the roof and higher him back to have his own show.
