IMPACT OF LOW-COST AIR CARRIERS ON COLORADO’S ECONOMY
INTRODUCTION
This paper explores the economic benefit to Colorado and the Denver metropolitan area associated with increased service from discount or low-cost air carriers flying in and out of Denver International Airport (DIA). This paper also recommends financially appropriate civic actions that should be taken in order to attract air carriers not currently servicing the Denver market. It also suggests actions that should be taken in order to retain and strengthen the existing airlines servicing DIA, and to promote a more competitive environment aimed at benefiting DIA passengers and Colorado’s economy.
