Sickle cell Anemia is the most common and inherited blood disorder. It affects red blood cells which contains function of the Hemoglobin is to carry oxygen from the lungs to all parts of the body. When Sickle Hemoglobin gives up it’s oxygen to the tissues, it sticks together to form long rods inside the red blood cells making the cells rigid and sickle shaped. With normal red blood cells they can bend and flex easily, as of sickle red blood cells they can not because of their shape, so they can not squeeze through small blood vessels as easily as donut- shaped ones. This leads the blood cells to get stuck, which stops the oxygen from where it needs to be and this leads to server pain and damages the lungs, liver, kidney, and the spleen.
